Phoebe Elizabeth Clutter age 63 of Sanford, NC passed away peacefully on Friday January 3, 2025, at First Health Hospice, West End NC. Phoebe was born in Webster County West Virginia on October 3, 1961. Phoebe graduated from Webster County High School and worked in retail the majority of her life.
Phoebe's love for her children had no limits, her eldest son Johnathon feel ill with a life threating illness for 2 weeks she never left the hospital, spending her nights in the waiting in prayer for his life. Her second son Zackary made her very proud when graduated from college and hoping to make it into medical school, always hopeful he could make his dream come true. She worried about him so, loved him without limits. Her baby boy Jason (Pauly) when he brought home his high school sweet heart she knew she would need to learn to share "This girl ain't going anywhere" she would say. Later when they were married it made her very happy, but they told us of her first grandchild on it's way her life was complete and to know perfect joy and love was to look at Phoebe.
Phoebe was the most wonderful Grandmother, her whole life revolved around caring for her family. Her love for her grandchildren was utterly amazing. For more than 12 years from the time her first grandchild (Kenzie) arrived she never missed a Wednesday to spend the day with Kenzie no distance was too great for Mom-maw. When her second grandchild arrived (Zoe), she was so happy I believe she could have floated to see them. With the birth of her 3rd grandchild (Emmie) truly her cup runs over with joy and love, everyone that knew Phoebe could tell you about her grandchildren because that was all she talked about, she lived for them. Then one day she learned about her forth (Kason). She was truly complete and utterly happy to see pure joy and happiness you need only watch Phoebe with her grandchildren.
Phoebe didn't marry a man but she sure made one out of me. My life was so much richer and full because of her. For 43 plus years she stood by me took care of me supported me. I know I loved her before I knew her and through all the days of our lives good & bad happy and sad I never did and never will stop loving her. Phoebe's smile would light up the room and her sweet loving soul touched everyone she met. I will forever carry an emptiness in my soul till I meet her again.
Phoebe is survived by myself, her husband of 43 years, Rodney Clutter of Sanford. Sons: Johnathon Gruenberg of Sanford, Zackary Clutter of Sanford, Jason Clutter, and his wife Katie of Sanford, and 4 grandchildren Kenzie, Zoe Emmie and Kason. Phoebe leaves behind a Brother, Eldridge Griffith of Webster Springs, WV and Thomas Hansell of New Jersey. As well as numerus cousins.
Phoebe is proceeded in death by her Mother Helen Francis Griffith, and her sister Suzan Griffith Hamrick.

Having been their letter carrier for their business on Chatham St for many years, Pheobe always greeted me with a smile and joked with me about family life. I know she'll be missed.
