May 7, 1957- July 23, 2025
With deep sadness and eternal love, we announce the passing of our mom, Jean Austin, on July 23, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on May 7, 1957, Jean loved fiercely and embraced life with a spirit that was entirely her own. Jean was a force- strong, passionate and unapologetically authentic. She lived without bending to social expectations, choosing instead to lead with her heart. She found deep joy in teaching art, helping others find their creative spark and those who knew her were better for it. She was most at peace when she was casting a line while fishing, hiking through nature's quiet paths or pouring herself into her art. She had an adventurous soul & and open heart. Jean is survived by her children and their families: James, along with Emma and Tillman; Kristy, with Steve & Grayson; and Bethany, with Rob, Ella and Ryelynn. With love, her legacy lives on through them.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Jacob Schoen & Sons Funeral Home in New Orleans, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Family, friends and her community from the Abita Springs park are warmly invited to join us in honoring her life. She loved, was loved and will be greatly missed.
