Phyllis E. Booth

PRINCETON - Phyllis Booth, a mother, grandmother, sister, gardener, animal advocate, baker, and retired longtime local news reporter, passed away peacefully on November 5th, 2025 in her home. She was 83.

Born in Worcester, MA, Phyllis grew up in West Boylston and then lived in Princeton for most of her adult life, where she raised a son and tended to her animals and gardens. She spent many years working at Heald Machine Co in Worcester, and reporting for The Landmark, in Holden, where she had many stories of local activities and residents in the central Massachusetts region.

When she wasn't chasing a story, Phyllis could usually be found outside - tending to her garden, watching the birds, or enjoying the companionship of her pets. Her yard was a constant work in progress, full of color, native plants, and the occasional set of muddy paw prints. Her home was open to all neighbors who stopped by and she would always have freshly baked goods waiting for her guests. Stories about the bear that stopped by the night before were always the topic of conversation.

She passed on her love of art, and love for animals to her son and grandchildren, who will miss her strong presence and conversation.

She is survived by her sister Judy; son Erik and his wife Nicole, and their three children, Kyla, Addy, and Hailey; nephew Chris and his son Bryce; and nephew Jim and his wife Jo Marie. She is preceded in death by her husband Don and her brother Ward.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MSPCA or the Massachusetts Audubon Society of Princeton, MA.

Phyllis Booth approached life with hard work and care - qualities that will continue to shape those who knew her.
