June 6, 1922 - December 29, 2024
Phyllis I. Cook, 102 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Phyllis was born on June 6, 1922 in Garnett, Kansas to Lewis and Mary Frances McDonald. At age nine, she moved with her family to Beatrice, Nebraska where she graduated from high school. In 1945 she married John C. Cook and they made their home in Napa, California, where they raised four children. Widowed in 1968, Phyllis returned to Beatrice in 1971 to be near family, eventually moving to Lincoln.
A homemaker and part time bookkeeper, Phyllis loved family, friends and her Catholic Faith.
Phyllis is survived by her children Brian C. Cook and Janice L. Cook; and son-in-law Alan Pofahl; grandchildren Angela (husband Jerry) Doell, Jennifer Pofahl, Michael (wife Marissa) Pofahl, John Cook, Don (wife Erin) Cook, Kevin (wife Sara) Cook and Matt Cook; 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John C. Cook, son Russel L. Cook and daughter Shari Pofahl and daughter-in-law Marilee Cook.
There will be a Rosary at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St Joseph Catholic Church, 7900 Trendwood Drive, Lincoln with Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St Jospeh Catholic Church. Burial will be at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to St Joseph Catholic Church or HoriSun Hospice.
