Phyllis Denman Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Phyllis Campbell Denman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2025, at the age of 84. Services will be 11 am, Thursday, October 2nd, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale with Pastor Art Free officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Wednesday, October 1st, at the funeral home. Phyllis was born on October 11, 1940, in Gage, Oklahoma to Lloyd William Campbell and Agnes Ellen Fields. At a young age, she faced profound tragedy, losing her mother and sister in a fire when she was just five years old. She spent her childhood in Whitaker Children's Home in Pryor, Oklahoma, until the age of 17, when she moved to Houston, Texas, to live with her beloved aunt, Eunice. It was in Houston that she met the love of her life, Bobby Denman. They were married on July 23, 1960, and together they shared more than six decades of marriage before Bobby's passing in 2024. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, resilience, and love, and from it came their greatest joy - their three children. Bobby and Phyllis later relocated to Central Texas, settling in the Sharp Community, where they continued to raise their family and become active members of the community. Phyllis built a respectable career in banking, starting as a teller and working her way up to VP of Operations at several local banks, where she was admired for her leadership, integrity, and compassion. She was also deeply involved in the Rockdale Fair Association for many years, giving generously of her time to support her community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated member of Rockdale Full Gospel Church, where she worshipped faithfully and served with a joyful heart. Phyllis is survived by her children: Bobby Leon and Lynette Denman, Mary Ruth and Rodney Jacobs, and James Clifford and Crystal Denman. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren, Dustin Denman, Amber Denman, Joshua Jacobs and spouse Matthew Marble, Andrew Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs and spouse Logan James, along with great-grandchildren who brought light to her later years. Also, many nieces and nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by: Husband, Bobby Denman: Parents: Lloyd and Agnes Campbell, Aunt Eunice Fields Rosser; Brothers, Earl Campbell, Harold Campbell, Frank Campbell and Richard Campbell; Sisters: Grace Campbell Kleckner and Joyce Campbell. She will be remembered for her enduring strength, her generosity, and the love she poured into her family and community. She overcame hardship with grace, carried her faith quietly but firmly, and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a source of wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love. The family deeply appreciates the caregivers and friends who gave their time, compassion, and love to make Phyllis's last days fulfilling and memorable. Their kindness and support brought peace and comfort during her final journey. A service celebrating her life will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas. Viewing will take place on Wednesday evening, October 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 2, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale, Texas. Afterward, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Rockdale Full Gospel Church. Though her story began with loss, Phyllis's life was defined by the family she built, the love she gave, and the strength she carried. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved so deeply. In lieu of Flowers please consider donations to the Rockdale Full Gospel church or Miliam County CASA program.
