KINGSPORT – Phyllis Ann Ferrell, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Phyllis was born in Kingsport, TN on June 9, 1946, to her parents, T.E. Hawkins and Ethel (Hall). She lived in Georgia for a big part of her life and worked as a nurse for 49 years, dedicating her life to helping people. After retirement Phyllis moved to Kingsport where she spent the remainder of her life with her family. Phyllis was a fisty woman and loved to talk. She was a wonderful and loving aunt, and dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Eugene Hawkins.
Phyllis is survived by her niece, Brenda Sams (Jerry); nephew, Harold "Hoppie" Hawkins; great niece, Hope Hawkins; and her great nephews, Austin Hawkins, Joshua Dykes (Tonya), and Aaron Sams; great great nephew, Brady Chatman; as well as many dear friends.
The family would like to say a very special thanks to Josh and Tonya for the love and care they gave Phyllis the last several years.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bill Porter officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Hawkins, Jerry Sams, Joshua Dykes, Aaron Sams, and Brady Chatman.
