Phyllis F. Foster, 98, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025 at Rock Creek of Ottawa in Ottawa, Kansas.
Memorial graveside services will be held 1:30pm, Friday, June 27, 2025, at Bean Cemetery in Little River, Kansas.
She was born on Friday, June 3, 1927 in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Olive Lucinda (Baxter) Foster. She grew up in Little River and moved to Ottawa in 1954.
Phyllis graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1945 and attended a short time at Bethany College at Lindsborg, Kansas.
In 1945 Phyllis returned from college to Little River and worked eight years for the Post Office, and after moving to Ottawa, worked thirty-six years for the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce as secretary/office manager, retiring in 1993. She also worked part-time for the Franklin County Historical Society from 1994 until retiring in July 2011. She was a well-known, faithful and loved servant to all that crossed her professional path.
Phyllis was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa; former member of the Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) at Little River, Kansas; was an active participant in both church choirs for over thirty-five years; a member of Chapter AU, P.E.O. Sisterhood, past member of Skilton Music Club in Ottawa, and a past board member of COF Training Services, Inc., also in Ottawa.
Phyllis was united in marriage with Robert J. Conaty. They were later divorced.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Olive Foster and three brothers, Kent B. Foster, Rex H. Foster and Dr. Charles Foster and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
