Phyllis Ann McConnell King

Phyllis Ann McConnell King, wife of the late William O. "Buddy" King Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Gary King (Miriam); granddaughter, Kelly and a grandson Cody (Kiley); and five great grandchildren, Remington, Campbell, Gray, Laik, and Savannah.
After growing up in Sandy Springs, South Carolina, Phyllis moved to Seneca in 1956 after marrying her beloved husband, Buddy. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Eugenia McConnell and her older brother, Johnnie McConnell, and a lifelong friend Beverly Kay all of Seneca.
Phyllis worked at Liberty Life Insurance for 38 years and after retirement she worked part time at Hopewell Baptist Church. She was the memorial chairman with the American Cancer Society of Oconee County for numerous years and served on the board of Directors for the American Cancer Society. She was a charted member of Grace Baptist Church, where she served on the Fundraising Committee, Hospitality Committee, and sang in the Celebration Choir. Many friends knew her as an avid bridge player, and participating in several clubs. Phyllis had many found memories of family vacations she and Buddy spent with special friends, Beverly and Joe Kay and Ernestine and Ed Addis.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 16th, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 16th, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church.
