Phyllis L. McVaugh, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 24, 2022.
Phyllis was born in Kennett Square, PA, daughter of the late Mabel E. (Ford) and Raymond S. Riale where she graduated from Kennett High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and a homemaker. When Phyllis was not busy raising the family, she was helping run the family mushroom business with her husband. She was also a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hockessin Fire Company. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed traveling with her husband, in their airstream trailer, spending time with her family, crafting and gardening. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, John M. (Monty) McVaugh, Jr; two grandchildren; Richard A. Neiffer, Jr. and Kylie Marie McVaugh.
Phyllis is survived by Cheryl (Richard) Neiffer, Randy (Sandra) McVaugh, Lynn (Carl) Roca, and Thomas McVaugh, as well as her daughter-in-law Joan McVaugh. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joanna McVaugh, Ryan Neiffer, Andrew McVaugh, Thomas McVaugh, Jr., Randall McVaugh, Jr., Kristie McVaugh, Danielle Roca, and Thomas Roca. In addition to her 10 grandchildren she is survived by her 10 great-grandchildren, Cathryn Neiffer, Nakai Neiffer, Kayla McVaugh, Lyssa Neiffer Peterson, Taylor Halbert, Nakos Neiffer, Nicholas Orsini, Kailey McVaugh, Colton Halbert, and Maya McVaugh.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. at the Mealey Funeral Home. Located at, 2509 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. The burial will follow at, the Hockessin Friends Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hockessin Fire Company in Phyllis' name.
