Phyllis Carol Patterson

Phyllis Carol Patterson, age 86, of Richmond, Kentucky passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025.
She leaves behind her husband Ancil "Pete" Patterson; two children, Donald Eskew & wife Frankie of Richmond, KY, Kevin Eskew of St. Augustine, FL; two siblings, Cora Ann Coats of Lake Wells, FL, Kenneth Cottongim & wife Gerri of Taylor, MI; two grandchildren, Samantha Boyer, Robert Eskew; four great grandchildren, Cassandra Eskew, Melanie Eskew, Evan Boyer, Clara Boyer; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Margaret Rush Cottongim; and by her brother, Jack Cottongim.
Phyllis was retired from Sealy Mattress, where she worked as a dedicated supervisor.
Phyllis had a creative heart and a love for beauty-especially the kind found in nature and old things with a story. She enjoyed sewing, often "suffering" her children through long visits to fabric shops, where she would dream up her next project. She loved to sing and was a faithful member of the Christmas choir at church, where she also played the piano, filling the sanctuary with music and joy.
She had an adventurous streak and a curious spirit. Whether it was road-tripping to Gatlinburg, exploring the Grand Canyon, visiting California, or simply driving through the countryside with no destination in mind, she found wonder in the journey. Flea markets and antique stores were her playgrounds-she delighted in "pilfering" through treasures, always searching for the perfect hidden gem.
Above all, Phyllis will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, her faith, her music, and her everyday moments. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A funeral service honoring Phyllis Carol Patterson will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Kenny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
The family will be meeting at Golden Corral after the service to share a meal together. Anyone who would like to join them may do so.
