Phyllis Ann Pipoli, cherished by all who knew her as Phyllis, departed this world on May 28, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on September 30, 1962, in neighborhood of Little Italy, she remained a lifelong New Yorker whose heart and soul echoed the energy of the city she loved. Phyllis passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, guidance, and an unforgettably spirited personality.
Phyllis was the beloved domestic partner to Manolo. She was a devoted mother to her children, Alexandria and Ryan, and a caring stepmother to Jasmin, Madeline, and Rafael. Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and she doted on her 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren with affection and enthusiasm. Phyllis was the daughter of the late Jerry and Grace Pipoli and a loving sister to Louis, Ursula, and Harry. As an aunt, she held a special place in the hearts of her 4 nephews and 3 nieces, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Professionally, She began her career with the PAL's after-school program, where she guided countless students through their formative years. Later, she worked at Greenwich Village Youth Center, where she continued to help with homework, plan educational field trips, and produce school musicals and plays. Phyllis's commitment to youth development left a lasting impact on the community and shaped the futures of many who were fortunate enough to be under her care.
Her interests were as eclectic as her approach to life. Phyllis loved all genres of music and could often be found dancing with an infectious joy that invited others to join in, especially when she did the worm! She organized countless outings to museums and zoos with her grandchildren, sharing her curiosity and zest for life. A beach lover at heart, Phyllis found serenity in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the sun. She also enjoyed quieter moments, such as coloring and solving crossword puzzles with her daughter.
Phyllis lived by her own rules, never afraid to be untraditional, and she danced to the beat of her own drum with confidence before she became sick. Phyllis's love for her children was unwavering, she encouraged Alexandria and Ryan to pursue happiness, whatever form it might take. Phyllis's legacy is one of strength, resilience, and the courage to be true to oneself. She will be remembered not only for the lives she touched but also for the light she brought into the world. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and laughter she leaves behind.
