Phyllis Rampey Obituary
Phyllis Rampey, beloved wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother, passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 78.
Phyllis was born in Benson, NC to Rufus Allen and Leta Gray Allen. Phyllis grew up in the close knit community of Benson with her younger sisters, Teresa and Alma Gray, and met and married Russel Godwin, her first husband, there. Phyllis and Russel had two sons, Bryan and Bill Godwin, before Russel's untimely and tragic passing leaving Phyllis a young widow.
Phyllis found love again with Arnold Rampey and their marriage of 50 years until her passing was a testament to enduring love, companionship, and respect. With Arnold, Phyllis became a stepmother to Denny Rampey and Alvina Bagwell, and a mother to her youngest son, Brent Rampey. Phyllis embraced her role as mother and stepmother creating a welcoming home for her family.
Among Phyllis’s greatest joys were her grandchildren, Brittney, Logan, Nathan, and Elliot. She loved hearing of, and sharing in the events of their lives.
Phyllis' kindness, generosity and strength will be remembered by her family and all who knew her and her passing leaves a void.
A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’s life will be held 4:00PM Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC.
