Phyllis Genene Schultz, 93, formerly of Beloit, passed from this world to her eternal home to be with our Risen Lord Jesus Christ on August 1, 2024. She was born on September 28, 1930 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of George and Verna (Dunn) Keepers.
Since she was born in 1930, she lived during the Great Depression, WWII & the Cold War; & she lived before frozen foods, penicillin, vaccines, contact lenses, clothes dryers, credit cards, portable radios, TV, a/c, radar, credit cards, computers, the landing on the moon, electric typewriter, computers, & cell phones. Pizzas, McDonalds, and instant coffee were unheard of. She lived during times when you could buy numerous things for a nickel (5 cents) like an ice cream cone, a street car ride, a soda pop, a phone call, & enough stamps to mail a letter & 2 postcards. Gas in her early days was 11 cents/gallon; & you could buy a brand-new Chevy coupe for $600!
Phyllis was born again when she accepted Christ's free gift of eternal forgiveness & eternal life at 12 years old at a youth camp in the Summer of 1942; and in the fall of that same year was baptized. She notes in her memoirs that she secretly dreamed of being a missionary, but didn't really grow in her faith until years later.
She is survived by her beloved sons Mark and Gary (& her daughter-in-law Jill); grandchildren Noelle (& her husband Lucas), Daniel, and Matthew; Great Grandchildren Elias and Sophia; her beloved sisters-in-laws Mary, Jenny and Peggy, beloved brothers-in-law Ted and Frank, her beloved nephews and nieces whom she often treated as her own: Adrienne, Jennifer, & Julia; David, Ed, Jody, & Theresa; Scott & Debbie; Cheryl; Frank/"Buddy," Lisa, & Marshall; Stephanie, Tina, & Amy; and many other beloved family members, Church members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her former husband Donald, her beloved parents George and Verna Keepers, and beloved siblings George (his wife Joyce), Marilyn, Bill, Shirley, Patricia (her husband Donald/"Pedro"), and Frank/"Butch," and her beloved nephews Jeff, Randy, Bradley, & Tommy.
She was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School (in 1948) & Spencerian Business College (in Milwaukee, WI), a lifetime member of the Alpha Iota Sorority, a former chairman of the Christian Business and Professional Women's Counsel (where she fulfilled her desire to be a missionary), retired as an executive secretary after working almost 30 years for Warner Electric, Brake & Clutch Co. in South Beloit, and for a season was a beloved member of the Brookfield Congregational Church, Sun Valley Presbyterian Church & then the Central Christian Church & their Food Pantry TLC group, Stonecroft Ministries, the Beloit Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a beloved group of friends named the Ladybugs who wore red hats, traveled, and enjoyed each other's company. She was beloved because she loved so much (and you could tell how much she was beloved by all the cards & notes she saved over the years!).
A Funeral Service for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.

Phyllis was our neighbor in Brookfield when I was a child. She was a friendly and kind neighbor.
I found out many years later she was praying for me. She and a group of dear ladies from Elmbrook Church prayed me into the kingdom of Heaven.
I am so grateful to God for Phyllis' steadfast prayers.
Mark and Gary, God blessed you with a dear mom! God keep you close to Himself until you see her again.
