Phyllis May Barton Sheahan, 90, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at Hospice House of Reno County.

She was born October 13, 1935, in Pretty Prairie, Kansas, the daughter of Bonnie May (Ferguson) Barton and John Allen "Pat" Barton. Phyllis grew up in Pretty Prairie and graduated from Pretty Prairie High School.

In 1954, she married Gerald E. Sheahan of Kingman, Kansas. The couple made their home in Hutchinson, where they raised their family and were lifelong residents. Gerald preceded her in death on February 16, 2008.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was also a proud member of the Sweet Adelines and worked for Southwestern Bell, where she made many cherished friendships.

Phyllis is survived by: her children: Colleen Sheahan, Kerry (Brad) Holden, and Tracey (Everette) Gould, all of Hutchinson, and Kelly (Teresa) Sheahan of Wichita; and daughter-in-law, Caryl Blasing-Sheahan of Herington. Phyllis is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by: a son, Scott Sheahan of Herrington, Kansas; a great-grandson, Sebastain Sheahan; and her four brothers, Edgar "Ed", Forrest, Glenn "Rusty", and Robert "Bob" Barton.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, with Father Matt Marney officiating. Burial will follow lunch in Lonestar Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
