Mrs. Phyllis Ann Carpenter Sullivan, age 76 of West Jefferson passed away Friday morning, January 9, 2026 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Roten and Rev. Steve Leashomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Carpenter Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home on Monday; prior to funeral service.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by: her husband, Johnny Sullivan; two daughters, Cara Miller (Jeff) of West Jefferson and Melissa Jordan of West Jefferson; a brother, Jack Carpenter (Kathy) of Wilkesboro; a sister. Carol Barker (Tony) of Lansing; three granddaughters, Brittany Alff (Max), Makayla Rosenberger (Alex) Amber Miller one great granddaughter, Sadie Alff; several nieces and nephews and a life time friend Jean Powell also survive.
She was preceded by a brother, Dallas Carpenter
Phyllis was a beloved wife, mom, sister, friend, and Mamaw. She was selfless, compassionate, and funny. Phyllis and John were married for 57 years. She was a native of Little Horse Creek and spent her working career at Hanes. Phyllis loved her friends and family dearly and was a devout Christian. She enjoyed honoring loved ones through annual family cemetery decorations as well as family vacations and trips. Most recently she enjoyed a trip to The Ark and a family beach trip with her daughters and granddaughters. Phyllis was known for her beautiful quilts, homemade fudge, and her green thumb. Her favorite hobby was caring for her potted plants and she was an excellent cook - she was especially skilled at making breakfast. Phyllis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
