Phyllis Louise Wells was born on September 23, 1961 to the union of Rev. Bill Julius and Cora Belle Ashley in Michigan City, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and peacefully departed this life, Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at home. Phyllis accepted Christ at an early age, and in 2020 rededicated her life back to God. On November 21, 2021 she was ordained as an Evangelist and attended Gethsemane Church of God, South Bend IN.
Phyllis attended Elston School graduated in 1980 and was also a member of the Army Reserve. She married William Dave Wells in August 2011, and cared for him until August 2022. Phyllis was always on the prayer line talking about the word of God. She enjoyed visiting the homeless shelters as part of her ministry donated food and clothes while ministering to those who listened. Phyllis would always say, "I don't receive that", when she felt things were not biblical and from the Word of God, to make sure you knew!
Phyllis was known for her style & fashion, and would buy clothes and re-create them to her fashion needs. She always modelled and would walk down that runway like it was hers as though she was "America's Next Top Model." Phyllis had a walk and kick while modeling, those watching was constantly in awe as she performed her legendary "mannequin turn." Phyllis loved to cook and would affectionately call her brothers, "bruh, bruh."
While living in Michigan City and Atlanta she would pack all her nieces and nephews (at the very least 7) and keep them for weekends and summer breaks. During those times she didn't have children and loved spoiling her nieces and nephews as her own; she was an awesome Aunt and will be missed dearly.
Phyllis loved her children Curlean, Ta'Cora and grandson Delano. She enjoyed spending family time. Lano would continuously amaze her with his vocabulary and say things like," GiGi you really love God," GiGi He is going to take care of us."
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, two loving children, Curlean Williams Jr, Ta'Cora Shabelle Williams, one grandson Delano Cortez Anderson, Constantine, MI, Stepmother, Clara Ashley, siblings: Jerry (Rene) Ashley, Bruce (Tanisha) Ashley, Kenneth Ashley, Rev. David (Jillian) Ashley, Yolanda Ashley, Michigan City, IN Larry (Evonne) Ashley, Racine, WI, Tonya Ashley, Hammond, IN, Ralph Ashley, Rosie (Rev. Ernest) Jones, Indianapolis, IN, and Sharon (Keevey) Davis, St. Louis, MO.
A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by William "Dave" Wells, husband and Billy J. Ashley, brother. Phyllis is greatly missed.
Psalms 27: 1-4
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
