Pilar Manriquez Medlock passed away August 15, 2025 in Lehi, Utah at the age of 83. She was born February 23, 1942, in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, México. She was raised in Ensenada, México and spent a lot of time with her grandmother, whom she adored. As a teen, she studied accounting at a business school and came to the United States at 17 years old working as a bookkeeper. She married Joe Medlock in the spring of 1966. They had three children together and owned an Orange Julius and a Diet Center. Pilar cherished dedicating time to her family and her church, joyfully serving in many callings. One of her favorites was working with the youth in the Mutual Improvement Association (MIA). She loved planning gatherings and parties, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and had a wonderful time. Always the life of the party, she brought warmth, joy, and laughter wherever she went. She was also an avid fan of UCLA basketball and especially enjoyed watching Bill Walton play. In her later years, Pilar was able to fully devote her time to her family and church service, serving in the California temples starting in 1993, continuing for many years. Pilar proudly obtained her U.S. citizenship in 2000, marking a significant chapter in her life. In 2004, she began a remarkable season of missionary service, completing seven missions over 15 years. Her service included the Family History Center's international floor, the Conference Center, and the Salt Lake City Temple, where she touched countless lives. Pilar enjoyed water aerobics and listening to music, spanning genres from Mariachi to Kenny Rogers. She loved staging homes and always had the most beautiful formal table settings. While she didn't enjoy cooking, she loved cooking for her grandchildren, making them endless tacos, enchiladas, and tamales. She loved to dance, and continued dancing until the end of her life. Pilar was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Manriquez and Trinidad Castillo, and younger brother Carlos Zumaya. She is survived by her sister Lupe Garcia, brother Juan Zumaya, children Susan (Chad) Wilson, Cynthia (Chris) Weaver, and Billy Medlock. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pilar's life was marked by love, service, faith, and joy. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family and her Savior, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Please join us in celebrating her life Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 am at the Lehi Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah.
