Polly Harriet Day Van Lenten, 83, of Brenham before moving to Rio Rancho, NM in 2021 passed away on March 26, 2025 in Rio Rancho, NM.
She was born on December 16, 1941 to John Hull and Fayma (Lain) Hull in Dallas, Texas. On April 16, 1960 she married Ronald Day, celebrated 53 years of marriage before becoming a widow on September 23, 2013, and married Robert Van Lenten, May 6, 2017, preceding her in death on July 28, 2021.
Polly is also preceded in death by sister Beverly Smith and brother-in-law Ed Smith.
She is survived by her children Kimberley (and husband Rob) Koonce, Michael (and wife Diane) Day, and Gretchen (and husband Rick) Sowell; grandchildren Lauren Radford, Zachary Tollefson, and Austin Tollefson; three great grandchildren; nephew Eric (and wife Arin) Smith; niece Erin Strackbein (and husband John); and many dear cousins.
She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and attended classes at Blinn College.
Polly attended High Desert United Methodist Church in Rio Rancho, NM.
She enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, reading her Bible, participating and teaching in Women's Aglow Fellowship International, Bible Study Fellowship groups, along with teaching at churches where she was a member, writing letters to friends and family, cooking, adult coloring books, and loving her many beloved dogs in her lifetime.
A viewing will begin at 10:30 am followed by A Celebration of Life service to be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
Memorials may be given to Corus Health (hospice) in Albuquerque, NM or The Retreat (dementia specialty care) in Rio Rancho, NM. Online condolences may be shared at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com.
