Joseph Pratola Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCrery & Harra Funeral Home and Crematory - Concord Pike on Dec. 30, 2023.
Our beloved Joey, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 26, 2023 in North Wilmington. He was born and raised in Kennett Square, PA, to Patrick and Yolanda Pratola. After graduating from Kennett High School in 1975, he worked in the mushroom business. He then had 35 dedicated years at Hy-Point Dairy in Wilmington, where his coworkers and clients became lifelong friends. He looked forward to driving milk to local establishments where everyone knew Joe.
Joey is survived by his mother Yolanda Pratola and his cherished sister Grace Meany (Joe). He was the proud uncle to his adored nieces and nephews Gabriella (Ian), A.J., Danny (Lindsay), Tony, Hunter, and Olivia. Preceding him in death were his father Patrick Pratola and his brother Patrick Pratola, Jr.
Joey was truly loved by anyone who met him including the two family English Bulldogs, Adrianna, and Paulie, whom he called his "little piggies." Whether you knew him as Uncle Joe, Joey P, Joe Joe, Brother Joe, or Kennett Square Rattlesnake, he would always greet you with a huge smile. He was the epitome of a happy person, always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh hysterically. Joey loved life and lived every moment to the fullest whether it was caring for his summer flowers, putting up his Christmas lights, tanning by the pool with his friends, eating his favorite Italian food, or going to Kennett Square parades. Joey was also known to love Winnie the Pooh, his private entrance to his building, and summer grilling on the patio. He never missed his weekend runs to Marini Produce and Booths Corner Farmers Market. We are grateful Joey was able to spend his last Thanksgiving at the lake laughing with his family, giving the puppies treats, fishing, and watching every episode of the "Rifleman".
A genuine person with a good-hearted soul, Joey would do anything for anybody. He was devoted to his family and friends. A truly unique person who was content and happy with life, always had a cheerful and jolly outlook, and never ever complained; we should all take a lesson from him. He meant so much to so many. We will all dearly miss Joey, but our memories will forever remain in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Joey's name to the American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Project, or a favorite charity of your choice.
