Preston Tatum Davis, a lifelong resident of Leon and Gadsden counties, peacefully passed away on September 16 at the age of 87. Preston is survived by his wife Georgia Ledyard Davis, 2 daughters - Patty Davis (Steve Styron) and Christie Barringer, grandsons Noah Styron and Tyler Barringer, and his loving sister-in-law – Rochelle Davis. As the youngest of 8 siblings, Preston has too many nieces, nephews, cousins, and 'once (or twice)-removeds' to list, but he loved them all deeply. Preston cherished his friends and extended family, and they greatly enriched his life.
Preston was a proud member of the Leon High School Class of '55, and a graduate of both Emory at Oxford and Emory University. He was a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and spent most of his professional career working in the insurance industry.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allegro Assisted Living and Big Bend Hospice for their love and care of Preston during his final years and days. Their kindness to him and his family is recognized and greatly appreciated.
Per Preston's wishes, there will be no formal service to honor his life. Instead, the family asks that you raise a glass, wet a line, swing a racket, strum a guitar, play 18 holes, sing some Barbershop songs, tell a dirty joke, hug someone, or do something else that brings you joy. If you want to honor Preston in another way, please make contributions to Big Bend Hospice. Their work is invaluable.
Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
