Dr. Preston Miller Givens

Dr. Preston M. Givens, veterinarian, age 88, resident of the Masonic Home of Virginia, died on January 16, 2012, at the Masonic Home, Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Hodges Givens, and two sisters, Louise Givens and Mary Virginia Allen. He is survived by a son, Preston M. Givens, Jr., and his wife, Jane Givens, both of Portage, MI, two grandchildren, Katharine Givens Kime, of Atlanta, GA, and Daniel Givens, of Portage, MI, and one great-grandchild, Abigail Givens Kime. Dr. Givens had a private veterinary practice at Hot Springs, VA, and was later Assistant State Veterinarian with the Virginia Department of Agriculture. He was a member of Thomas N. Davis Masonic Lodge #351, Past Master of Warm Springs and Valley Springs Lodges. Visitation will be at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA. on Thursday, January 19, 6PM-8PM. Funeral service will be held at the Nelsen Funeral Home, on Friday, January 20, 11 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond VA. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Endowment Fund of the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA., 23223.
