Queen E. Dowd, 73, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on January 16, 1952, and attended Baltimore City School Systems where she graduated and received her diploma, living a life that radiated love, kindness, and strength.
In her younger years, Queen worked a variety of jobs, but she was best known and most cherished for her role as a devoted foster mother and a loving mother to her children: Jeremiah Son) and (Daughters) Chanell and Wanda Dowd. She was also a devoted wife to the late Darnell Dowd, her husband and soulmate. After his passing, Queen carried his memory in her heart and found the strength to continue on with grace and resilience.
Queen was known for her gentle, feminine spirit and her caring nature. She touched countless lives with her kindness and was always ready to help those in need. A faithful woman, she loved attending New Creation Christian Church and participating in church activities that brought her closer to her faith and community.
She found joy in the simple yet meaningful things in life gardening, dancing, singing and being surrounded by family and friends. She treasured time spent with loved ones including Ternerra Dowd (Daughter-in-Law), Juanita McNeil (sister), Mary Galloway (sister), Victor McNeil (Twin Brother) and a host of nieces and nephews Keisha Galloway (niece), Shanikka Galloway (niece), Tierra Galloway (niece). She also loved spending time with her beautiful grandchildren Carter Peels, Akil Dowd and Nova Siders. Mary Smith (close friend), Mr. Bryan Claxton & Mrs. Sheila Claxton (Pastors) and many others held a special place in her heart.
Queen's warmth, compassion, and gentle soul will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
