It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Quinetta Shunta Leak, who departed this life on August 3rd, 2025, at the age of 45. She was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and best friend — deeply loved for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the way she made others feel truly seen and cared for.
Born on March 3rd, 1980, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Vivian (Jackie) Leak and Sambo Jeter, Quinetta was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Mary Helen Outing. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and Brookstone College, and was a devoted member of the United House of Prayer. There, she grew in faith and served faithfully as part of the McCollough Maids Board and the McCollough Marching Concert Band. Though she had opportunities to travel and pursue her career, Quinetta chose to remain home, dedicated to helping raise her younger brother, Tavares Leak.
Quinetta lived a life full of love, strength, and joy. Her laughter — unforgettable to all who knew her — carried warmth wherever she went. She embraced life wholeheartedly, finding joy in music, dancing, family gatherings, and time with her friends. As a proud member of her social club, The Purple Diamonds, she was truly the life of every celebration.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her grandmother, Mary Helen Outing; her baby brother, Tavares Leak (Joanne); her elder brothers, Sammy Jeter and Von Jeter; and her sisters, Cynthia Campbell (James), Sherry Jeter, Samantha McCall (Andre), along with her sister-in-law Michelle Hunte. She will forever remain in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who loved her dearly.
Quinetta's service will be Saturday August 30, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm. Join us at Carolina Mortuary Service and Cremation 6300 E Independence Boulevard Suite C, Charlotte NC 28212.
