Quitin Michael Mason' s Memorial Reflection:
A Time to Be Born…
Quintin Mason, 35, entered this world on February 8, 1990, a precious son to Mark Daniel Mason and Joycelyn Dorene Mason-Mitchell. His arrival marked the beginning of a life that would shine brightly, touch countless hearts, and leave an imprint that time cannot erase.
A Time to Plant…
From a young age, Quintin showed resilience and a spirit of service. As a child living with sickle cell disease, he was a dedicated participant in Camp New Hope from ages 6 to 17. When he grew older, he didn't walk away-he returned as a counselor, using his own experiences to uplift, comfort, and guide the next generation of campers.
He participated in Stop Study One (1995–1996) and Stop Study Two (1999–2001) at Grady Memorial Hospital, always willing to be part of research that could help others. Later, he answered the call to join studies conducted through Georgia Tech at the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia. Whenever the sickle cell community needed volunteers, Quintin stepped forward without hesitation. His bravery was not a moment-it was a lifelong pattern, rooted in love and a belief in better futures for others.
A Time to Learn…
Quintin proudly graduated from Morrow High School in Clayton County, Georgia. A thinker by nature, he was constantly learning, questioning, and expanding his world. He loved reading about economics, uplifting Black-owned businesses, and sharing knowledge with anyone who would listen.
He was a force on Clubhouse, where he connected daily with people around the globe-educating, entertaining, and inspiring them. Quintin had a rare presence: when he walked into a room, he didn't just enter it-he illuminated it. His smile, laughter, and gentle spirit made people feel seen and valued. He turned ordinary days into treasured memories. His joy was contagious, and his kindness left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Sickle cell was a battle, but Quintin fought it with strength, courage, humor, and unwavering grace. Though his earthly journey has ended, his impact remains. The lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the resilience he embodied continue to echo through all of us. His legacy is woven into the lives he touched.
A Time to Die…
On November 1, 2025, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Quintin received his final call from God. Though he has departed from our sight, he remains forever in our hearts.
A Time of Peace…
Quintin leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories cherished deeply by his brothers: Mark-Anthony D. Mason, James-Lee D. Mason, Tory M. Mason, Omari M. Mason, Nicholas J. Williams, and Todd-Allen L. Mitchell; his sisters: Jauquil A. Mason, Jessica J. Jones, Jenay N. Mitchell, and Candice M. Mitchell; his step-mother, Gwen Mason; uncles Michael Davis, Steve Davis, and Howard James; aunts Joyce (John) Currin and Angela James.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ayasha Dorene Mason; his grandfathers, Dr. Walter G. Jones and James Lee Davis; his grandmothers, Ruby Mason, Doris P. Jones, and Margaret Canady; and aunts Jennifer D. Jones and Kimberly Kelsey, as well as his uncle Robert Miller.
Quintin leaves behind devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly. Though he has stepped into eternal peace, the light he shared continues to shine brightly in every heart he touched.
