Phillip Powell Jr.

Phillip Powell, Jr., 56, of McDonough, passed away at his home on October 17, 2025. Born on November 2, 1968, in Frankfurt, Germany, he was the son of Phillip Powell, Sr. and Gracie Ann Powell (née White). Phillip was a proud graduate of Morrow High School and went on to earn a degree in Computer Information Systems from Fort Valley State University, later completing a Master of Science in Information Technology.

Throughout his career, Phillip worked in computer systems and program development, contributing his skills at IBM, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and eventually sharing his knowledge through teaching and administration at Strayer University.

He is lovingly remembered by his three sons, Charles Xavier Powell, Tristan Caleb Powell, and Phillip James Powell; his mother, Gracie Ann Powell; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Sharron Powell; former spouses Mattesa Goodrum-Powell, Janie Garvin, and Cyndi Powell; as well as many aunts, uncles, and extended family.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 P.M. in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Dr. Brent Ward. A repast will immediately follow at the funeral home.
