R. B. "Rooster" Mitchell Jr., of Mt. Olivet, age 67, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born in Maysville on June 29, 1956, to Ida White Mitchell and the late R. B. Mitchell Sr. Besides his dad he is preceded in death by his two beloved companions, Wilbur and Grizzly.
Rooster is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wendy Smith Mitchell; mother, Ida White Mitchell; a son, Dustin (Katelyn) Mitchell of Carlisle; a daughter, Krystle Mitchell of Cynthiana; one brother, Billy (Melissa) Mitchell of Mt. Olivet; four sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Allison of Cynthiana, JoAnn (Elza) Dale of Carlisle, Connie (Eddie) Zornes of Carlisle, Nellie Rankin of Carlisle; five grandchildren, Devyn Mitchell, Brayden Mitchell, Jaelyn Mitchell, Haileigh Mitchell, Grayson Mitchell and their grandmother Shellie Mitchell; good friend, Jim Holland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rooster was an avid wood worker and named his business Mitchell's Woodworking. He helped build his home in Mt. Olivet, was a former Robertson County Volunteer Fireman, and EMS volunteer. Rooster also enjoyed farm life.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Robertson County Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Bro. Johnathon Allison will officiate, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Ware Funeral Home, P.O.
