Obituary of Rafael Gonzalez
Rafael Gonzalez Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Newburgh on May 30, 2025 at the age of 62.
The son of the late Rafael Gonzalez Sr. and Edith Valentin, he was born on October 21, 1962, in Chicago, IL.
Rafael was united in marriage to Maria Gonzalez, who survives him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was evident in everything he did.
Rafael worked as a tow truck driver in Brooklyn, a job he loved and took great pride in. He was known for his generosity, strong spirit, and his ability to light up a room with both his presence and his words. A true car enthusiast, Rafael was never seen driving a car that wasn't up to his standard of cosmetic perfection. He also had a deep love for his pets, Rex and Cita, who brought him great joy.
A man of style and personality, Rafael was always sharply dressed and full of memorable phrases, including his favorite: "I was the best until I became the greatest."
In addition to his parents, Rafael was predeceased by his beloved children Tiffany Gonzalez and Rafael Gonzalez III, and his sister Anna Sorto.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Gonzalez; cherished daughters Stephanie Gonzalez and Brittany Gonzalez; treasured grandchildren Ciara, Rafael, and Ricardo; and his dear sister Sary Quinones.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 3rd at 11:00AM at Our Lady of The Lake R.C. Church, 433 S Plank Rd, Newburgh NY. Cremation took place at MacLennan Hall Crematorium.
Please make use of the Tribute Wall by leaving a memory or condolence for the family.
