Hall-Wynne Funeral Service & Crematory - DurhamRalph was born in Havana, Cuba, on February 28, 1950. At the age of 12, he left his cherished island home as the communist revolution took hold. He made a new life in Miami, Florida, where he studied, worked, and built a future. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carmen, and together they raised two daughters who were his pride and joy.
Ralph dedicated 38 years to his career as an Account Executive with The Miami Herald Publishing Company, where he built lasting relationships. In 2010, he and his family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, seeking a quieter pace of life and the opportunity to enjoy their retirement years together.
On July 23, 2025, Ralph passed away peacefully at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones, after complications from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carmen, two daughters: Anissa Lanzas and husband Medardo Lanzas and Ginelle Winters and husband Mike Winters; six cherished grandchildren: Ava, Emma, Maggie, Will, Elle and Iris, as well as many relatives and friends in both Miami and Greensboro. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dear friend.
Ralph had a gift for connecting with others—his charisma and quick wit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A true people person, he was a loyal, uplifting friend who never met a stranger. His passion for life was contagious, whether he was cheering for his beloved NY Giants, Yankees, and Knicks, or enjoying the sounds of Jazz, Salsa, and timeless Oldies. Ralph touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and genuine spirit. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. A legend in every sense of the word—may he rest in eternal peace.
