Pawtucket – Ralph L. Fletcher, Jr., 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Ralph L., Sr. and Katherine (McGloin) Fletcher.
Ralph graduated from Shea High School, (formerly Pawtucket West High School) in 1976. He then joined the U.S. Army and became an Armor Crewman, Specialist 4, earning a Distinguished M-551 Crew citation in 1977. He was transferred to Germany for two years and returned to Fort Knox, KY, leaving the Army in 1980.
Ralph attended CCRI, studying IT and making the Dean's list. He joined Sears Product Control where he held several positions in Logistics and Inventory Control. He later worked at Target in the Logistics and Stock department for about 20 years.
Ralph has always been well read, specifically regarding history and science fiction. He spent a number of hours studying the World Wars, and in his youth, played war games with his friends. His favorite author was H.P. Lovecraft and he frequented a number of Lovecraft haunts and festivals in the Providence area. In addition, he also was a fan of Star Trek, Babylon 5 and Star Wars. He was a talented writer (as a hobby) and earned recognition in high school for his creative writing skills. In addition, Ralph was an enthusiastic PawSox fan and attended numerous games at McCoy Stadium with his father over the years.
He is survived by two loving sisters, Ann Fletcher and her husband, Barry Myers, of Attleboro, and Christine Leca of Pawtucket; a niece, Elissa Leca, and a grandniece, Lila Leca, both of Pawtucket. Ralph had a number of good friends from Chelo's in Rumford and became a "Regular" there. He referred to it as his Happy Place. He will be missed.
Funeral Services followed by Military Honors will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation and floral tributes are respectfully omitted. Memorial gifts to the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, C/O Pawtucket P.D., 121 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be appreciated.
