Dr Ralph Dudley Haddock, age 76, passed away on a peaceful Sunday morning September 8th, 2024, at his home in South Jordan, Utah. He was in the loving arms of his sweetheart Carol Ann Haddock, surrounded by his children. No longer bound here physically, and graciously having been released from any pain, we reverently honor his profound and lasting legacy.
Ralph was welcomed into this life on January 27, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas by his proud parents, Dudley Welz Haddock and Dorothy Mae White-Haddock.
His father served as a B 25 bomber pilot in World War II and his beautiful mother was a model.
When Ralph was two, his father passed away after a two-week bout of polio at the age of 27. Ralph and his sister Barbra remained his mother's pride and joy for the extent of her life.
Ralph was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 19 and served in the France and Belgium mission from 1968-1970, where he shared his testimony of Jesus Christ.
Ralph was eternally sealed to the love of his life, Carol Ann McCray, on May 28, 1971 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple. They were married for 53 years.
Dr Haddock earned B.S. and M.S. Chemistry degrees from BYU. He joined the Marine Corps as an officer, completed flight school, and flew as a navigator of F-4 Phantom jets for 10 years. After his service, Ralph earned a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Washington, taught chemistry at the Naval Academy, was commissioned a Lt. Coronel in Marine Corp Reserves, and was activated as the CO of a reserve battalion during the Gulf War. Ralph worked 25 years as a chemist in several industries.
On any given day, you could find him eating Hydrox cookies (proclaimed the superior cookie by Ralph), or watching a BYU football game or a musical. Singing was a great passion of his and he sang tenor in the local Messiah for many years.
Of all the many accomplishments Ralph achieved, he was most proud of his wife and ten children. He always took time for his family, teaching them the word of God through scripture and prayer, always taking the time to deliver life lessons that would bring lasting happiness to his children.
Ralph was a man of strong faith and service. He continued, throughout all of his life, to share his testimony of Jesus Christ, both in word and deed. Ralph served his neighbors, his country, and most of all his family. He was a living example of selflessness to all who knew him.
He now lovingly watches over his beloved wife Carol Ann Haddock, his sister Barbra Corley, and his children and children in law Sharon and Shane Arnold, Sandra and Sam Owens, Daniel and Amie Haddock, Sarah and Eddie Arnold, Susie and Reed Larson, Shirlee Haddock, Michael and Chelsea Haddock, Sheila and David Tilley, Matthew and Katie Haddock, and Jonathan and Camille Haddock, his 28 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and all those to come.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 14th, at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11543 South Keystone Drive in South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will take place prior to the funeral, from 9:30am to 10:30am. Military Honors and the Interment will be at 12:30pm at the South Jordan City Cemetery, 10630 S 1055 W, South Jordan, Utah.
