Ralph Edwin McAfee, age 89, passed away suddenly on Friday morning April 4, 2025, at his home near Jewett.

He was born in the old farmhouse, on the farm where he still resided near Jewett, on July 22, 1935, to parents Ed and Florence McAfee. Ralph served in the Army until his father passed away and he was needed on the farm. He was a second-generation farmer of mainly dairy cattle, but they also raised sheep and chickens. He had also worked at Weirton Steel, then he drove a school bus for 27 years for Harrison Hills Schools. In the summers he worked as an electrician for 10 years with John Morvatz at county fairs in Harrison County, Jefferson County, Coshocton County and at the Johnnie Appleseed Festival in Lisbon.

He his younger years Ralph was a member of the FFA and enjoyed calling square dances. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting deer with family and friends, and eating spicy food.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Bolitho McAfee on April 7, 2023, a son John McAfee, a brother David McAfee and sisters Dorothy Collins, Bertha Shambaugh, Edna Ferguson and Blanche Howard.

Surviving are sons Ross McAfee of the home and Chuck (Ruth) McAfee of Bloomingdale, grandsons Daniel McAfee, Dustin McAfee and Tyler McAfee and Troy Harris, Jr, who he considered like a grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11 am in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Matt Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
