Ralph Preston Moss, 78, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Columbus Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama, with Pastors Grant Parker and Chris Herbert officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the funeral home.
Ralph was a man deeply loved by all who knew him. He was born on October 19, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to Gladys May Sawyer Moss and Ralph Elwood Moss, and was raised in Phenix City, AL. He shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Vicky Phelps Moss. Ralph was the absolute best son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
For 43 years, Ralph worked in construction as a Mechanical Engineer with Turner Universal Construction Company. He worked hard, lived fully, and loved his family without measure. He attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School, graduated from Pacelli High School, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ralph had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially alongside his sons and grandsons. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his grandchildren play baseball, softball, and volleyball. He was a devoted member of Epworth Methodist Church and actively participated in the Epworth Men’s Ministry.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys May Sawyer Moss and Ralph Elwood Moss, and his son, Ralph Preston Moss II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Phelps Moss; his children, Jason Moss, Jessica Sellers (William “Bill”) of Phenix City, Alabama, and Jeremiah Moss (Margaret) of Smiths Station; his sister, Jackie Whitworth; his cherished grandchildren, Madelyn Moss, Ethan Moss, Ashlyn Sellers, Brooklyn Sellers, Sawyer Moss, Sloane Moss, Sam Eason, and Maranda Sellers; and many nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever treasure his memory.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Wade Wilkerson, Curtis Wilkerson, Dale Wilkerson, Jim Mclemore, Johnny Ouzts, Chris Whitworth, and Steve Einspanier.
