Barbara Moss

Barbara Patterson Moss, 65, of Hayesville NC passed away in her home February 1st, 2026. She was a long- time resident of Clay County.

Barbara was a beloved member of the Clay County school system and caregiver to many. She also sung in a gospel group and was a youth leader for many years. Barbara loved Jesus, camping, fishing, crafts with her grand babies, gardening, Redbird, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Earl and Reva Mae Patterson, her husband Carroll Moss, her beloved son, Daniel Moss, and many siblings.

She is survived by her son, Derek Moss, her daughter Cheyenne Whitlow, her daughter in law Kendra Moss, and her seven grandchildren Autumn Whitlow, Aubrey Whitlow, Ava Whitlow, Kenley Hensley, Kadence Moss, Karoline Moss, and Kendrix Moss, and her sisters, Phyllis Shook, (Guy Shook) and Martha Matheson, (Wayne Matheson) and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Catalyst Church in Hayesville with Rev. Brandon Matheson, Rev. Wayne Matheson, and Rev. Steve Cothren officiating. Burial will be held in Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Hilton, Jimmy Long, Ben Wheat, Josh Holloway, Dale Holloway, and Steve Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kendrix Moss, Dakota Matheson, Harley Beasley, and Chad Matheson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm prior to the services.
