Mr P. was first a neighbor, then a friend. In the 1980's and 90's, I lived two houses down from him on Fellows Street. P was always out in the yard, mowing or cleaning fish, and would always motion me over to chat. We had many conversations over the years, the most memorable being him teaching me some sort of life lesson. In high school, at Riley, P always looked out for me (could be a tough crowd), and I don't know if I ever got the chance to tell him how much I appreciated that. I hope he knows this, as I am truly thankful. When I'd go fishing in the 90's, at Potato Creek, I'd stop by to talk with him and show him our catch -- of course he would fillet them up for me. Over the years we lost touch, as they moved from Fellows, and Judy sadly passed. I would still catch P at the gas station on Kern/31 every now and again, and we'd catch up and tell stories. I miss the guy, because he had a great heart. P was tough as nails, but also kind as anyone you'd ever known. I wish his family my condolences, and to know that he mentored countless individuals over his wide-reaching and successful career. Here's to you Mr. P, as you will be truly missed by many. I will cast a few with you one day in Heaven.
