I think Ralph was an intern at Oakwood Hospital when I was a radiology resident back in the early 1980s. I remember how, when he was on-call, he always seemed to have twice as many patients to care for as the other interns. He was always on the move helping, putting out fires, and stepping on toes that needed to be stepped on. He had so much energy and cared so much - not just about the patients (they were all his patients) but also about the nurses and staff caring for the patients. I'm sure he touched a lot of lives during his medical practice. As for me, I retired in 2015 as Nome's radiologist (Nome is about 164 miles from the Russian coast) and now live in Anchorage.

Dr. Ralph Raper, was one of the kindest doctors I'd met at Oakwood Hospital. I could never say enough nice things about this man. We met when I worked in anesthesia and he was doing his medical residency. He had the kindest heart and he would talk to everyone, it never matter if you worked in housekeeping the kitchen or you were a nurse or doctor. He treated everyone with respect and kindness. I'm going to miss having you as my doctor. You took excellent care of me when I had trouble with my kidneys. May you have eternal rest Dr. Raper and may the perpetual light shine upon you! You were liked by everyone and I know many are truly going to miss you. Heaven truly gained an angel. My deepest condolences to your family.

It is a loss for humanity in general! I met Dr. Raper when we entered WSU medical school in 1978. It was clear to me from the very start that he was going to be a dedicated care giver. There are certain individuals who has such a gift and it can be seen early on. He was a humble, hard working student who stood out because he wanted to take care of his community and his patients. I lost a dear colleague and friend, and the world has lost a great doctor.

Our deepest sympathies to his family, Dr Raper felt more like a close friend, then just a family physician he always showed care and understanding and treated us as if we were his only patient. He was caring for my 98 year old mother lately Cevia Virginia, she is heart broken over this news. He will be greatly missed, but always remember, Rest In Peace.

I'm deeply saddened by the news of Dr. Rapers passing.
He was my doctor for almost 35 years and he will be missed terribly. He was one of a kind who cared and devoted so much of his time to his patients. At times when I was in the hospital, it was comforting to see him walk in the door, knowing he truly cared. It was not uncommon to see him come down the halls at midnight checking in on one of his patients who he was concerned about. I know I always felt better knowing he was there. He was truly one of a kind.
My deepest condolences to his family and his staff who love him as much as all his patients do. He will never be forgotten.
You are all in my prayers today and for the days ahead.
Love, Sandy Fox
