Ralph "Zac" Zachgo, born on May 9, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2025, in Portland, Tennessee. He dedicated many years of his life to his career, notably working for Diebold Safes, Lowell Industries and as a gunsmith, where he combined his technical expertise with his profound passion for firearms.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Zac exemplified the spirit of service and commitment. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion, where he remained connected to his fellow veterans throughout his life.
Zac's life was deeply enriched by his faith as a member of Concord Baptist Church in White House, Tennessee. Beyond his professional accomplishments and military service, he was an avid sportsman who cherished the outdoors. His love for hunting and fishing, along with his dedication to shooting and collecting firearms, highlighted his deep-rooted enthusiasm for these hobbies. He enjoyed reloading and working on firearms, making guns not just a profession but also a steadfast passion.
Zac is survived by his children, Sandy Shelton (Dan) and Casey Zachgo (Robin); granddaughter, Sydney McCormick (Alex Dillard); sisters, Lucky R. Poole and Anna J. Bailey; nephew, Mark Poole; and his group of friends who were an important part of and a positive influence in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph R. Zachgo, Sr. and Shirley Hall; and his niece, Fawn Poole.
Zac leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and a spirited love for the outdoors, as well as cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. from the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in White House, TN with visitaiton from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
