Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molden Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service on Oct. 1, 2025.
Ramón Cancel Santana, affectionately known as Ramon, was called home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2025, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Born on Independence Day in 1938, in the picturesque town of Lajas, Puerto Rico, Ramon's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of faith, family, and hard work.
A dedicated family man, Ramon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Iris L. Ramirez, his son Jose Cancel, and his sister Maria Mercedes Cancel Torres. His legacy continues through his cherished family members who survive him: his sister Rosa Minerva Cancel Torres, brother José Ángel Cancel Torres, his devoted daughter Madeline (Cancel) Jackson and her husband Mike Jackson, his son Ramon Cancel and wife Michelle Cancel. Ramon's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren Ray Cancel, Nathan Jackson and fiancée Haily, Kaitlyn Jackson and fiancé Michael, Kyle Jackson and girlfriend Summer, and his great-grandson Anthony Michael Jackson. He also leaves behind many adored nieces and nephews.
In his professional life, Ramon was a respected general contractor, known for his integrity and craftsmanship. His work was not just a means to provide for his family but also a way to serve his community, building structures that would stand the test of time, much like the values he instilled in his loved ones.
Ramon's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a man who not only studied the Bible but lived its teachings every day. His life was a reflection of the well-known words of Jesus, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies" (John 11:25). This promise gave Ramon great comfort and guided him in all his endeavors.
He enjoyed listening to traditional Puerto Rican Jibaro music. An avid Phillies fan, Ramon rarely missed a game, cheering on his team with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. His interests also included coin collecting, a hobby that allowed him to connect with history and the wider world, and it was during these quiet moments of reflection that he found great pleasure.Above all, Ramon was a man who cherished time with his family. Whether it was a lively discussion at the dinner table, a family gathering, or simply sitting side by side in silent companionship, these moments were the ones he treasured most.
As we bid farewell to Ramon, we remember a life lived with purpose and love. He was a beacon of strength and kindness, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
