Ramona Catherine Mecham

Ramona Catherine Mecham, 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.

Ramona was born on August 17, 1935, to Michael J. and Hattie K. Stasch. She spent her childhood in Nebraska and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1952. With a passion for education, she earned her teaching degree and began her career shaping young minds teaching 1st through 8th grade students in an old country school south of Kilgore.

Her teaching career took a beautiful turn when she married the love of her life, Stephen Mecham. They married on June 30, 1956, and soon made Sheridan their home, where they raised their two children: Kathryn (Steve) Thompson and Stephen P. (Carolyn) Mecham. Together, Ramona and Stephen built a life rooted in hard work and love, owning and operating Steve's Truck Service for more than 35 years.

After retiring, they spent over 20 years traveling the country in their motorhome, exploring the beauty of the United States before settling back in Sheridan. Ramona cherished her garden, the breathtaking mountain views, and-most of all-her family. She and Stephen were blessed with six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, each the apple of her eye. She delighted in their visits, even when they were lively and chaotic.

When not surrounded by family, Ramona could be found baking her famous chocolate cake, sharing laughter with her bunko friends, or enjoying fellowship with her church family. Her warmth, generosity, and love touched everyone who knew her.

Ramona will forever be loved and deeply missed.

A Rosary will be at 10:00 A.M., with a Memorial Mass at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, Wyoming with Father Glenn Whewell officiating.
