Our amazing, beautiful, incredible, one-of-a-kind Ramona "Mona" Lee Miorandi, 61, of Coffeyville, Kansas, peacefully passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on January 28, 1963, in Wichita, Kansas, to Dale M. and Lula Charline (Croney) Shipman. Her parents divorced when she was young and she became the daughter of Edmond Shearhart when her mother remarried.
Mona spent her younger years in Wichita, Howard, Longton & Independence, Kansas where she attended school. Her family moved to Coffeyville in 1975 where she graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1981 and attended Kansas State University in Manhattan before returning to Coffeyville.
On June 5, 1982, she married Allen Purkey. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their daughters Michelle and Rachel. The couple later divorced.
On January 1, 2024, she married Mickey Miorandi. Following their marriage they continued to make Coffeyville their home.
Mona dedicated 25 years of her life to serving the community at Dr. Jon Conrad's dental practice, before embarking on a career in the Aircraft Manufacturing industry, where she spent the last few years as an interior upholstery expert at Cessna Aircraft in Independence. Her hard work and dedication were truly admirable as she displayed to all who knew her the meaning of strength in her valiant fight with cancer. If you asked her, her greatest achievement, her pride & joy, were her children and grandchildren. Times were not always easy but they always knew she was there for them, how proud she was of them & how very much she loved them. As an avid reader and lover of the outdoors, Mona's free time was often spent soaking up the sun with a good book in hand, enjoying the tranquility of nature.
She is survived by her loving husband Mickey Miorandi of the home, her daughters Michelle Arredondo & Rachel (Corey) Battaglear, her grandchildren Logan Clark, Gabrial, Aiyanna, Selena & Izaiah Arredondo, Amaya & Bryson Gomez, Aubrey & Sophie Battaglear and her special son Alec Gaut. She is also survived by her sister Corrina (Stan) Wilson, her brothers Dale M. Shipman, Jr., Eddie Shearhart & Chad Shipman, her father Edmond Shearhart, Mickey's children Frank Antonio "Tony" Miorandi & Melody Clarke and their children, her nieces Tess Dobrich (children) & Hailey Shearhart and nephew Clark Wilson (Kelli & Juliette), aunts Jessie Croney & Peggy Shipman, her uncle Terry Croney (Patty), numerous cousins, her Purkey family and her Dr. Conrad & Cessna Aircraft families.
Mona was preceded in death by her father Dale M. Shipman, her mother Lula Charline Shearhart, grandparents and many aunts & uncles.
A memorial service celebrating Mona's life will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 West 8th St. in Coffeyville with Pastor Matthew Friese officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may sign the register book from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th, at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
In lieu of flowers you may donate to a college fund for her grandchildren or to the Coffeyville Public Library. Donations may be left with the funeral home.
Please honor her memory by screening for colon cancer.
And as Mona would say,
Remember I Love You and watch for deer.
