Randy was born on January 9, 1952, in Racine, Wisconsin, to Harold and Hazel Coffelt. He was a graduate from the United States Military Academy West Point and later Pioneer Bible College. With the knowledge obtained, he established a successful career in computer engineering. Companies he worked for were comprised of Allstate, Sears, Advantis, IBM Global Network, Panduit, AT&T Network Services and Ciena. Randy was pivotal in changing how the world communicated as he lead teams to design some of the largest networks in the world at that time. He assisted with several start-up companies globally, due to his knowledge in the optical networking industry. His work ethic was such that companies were always seeking employment from him.
Randy was an ordained minister in the Apostolic Pentecostal faith. He did interim pastoring for several churches and excelled as a Bible teacher. He worked in many different capacities within the church. These roles included Sunday School teacher, youth choir leader, youth church, and he was requested to speak at churches across the country. He enjoyed music, played guitar, harmonica, and sang with his wife. He was there for anyone that needed a helping hand and always willing to help others in need.
Randy loved meeting new friends and never met a stranger. He had a dry sense of humor which people found amusing.
In his earlier years, Randy loved to travel with his family to many countries and famous sites. Randy had many hobbies, which included gardening, puzzles, travel and venturing out in new restaurants. He loved his best friend Muffin, whom was always by his side. They enjoyed playing Frisbee and went for daily walks.
Randy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Linda Coffelt, his son, Randall Laverne Coffelt, Jr., his sisters, Twila Ellis, Carol Segal, Rhoda Brady, his dog, Muffin, and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Henry Coffelt; his mother, Hazel Coffelt.
