Mary Elizabeth Duncan

Mary Elizabeth Householder Duncan, age 100 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Mary Beth was born July 23, 1925 and raised in Knoxville, TN and graduated from Old Knoxville High School. While attending UT she met her husband, Dr. R. Hollis Duncan, Jr. and was married 64 years until his death in 2009. She is preceded in death by her brother James Householder, daughter, Jennifer Owensby, grandson Michael Smith and Son-in Law Mark Shanks. She is survived by children Alice (John) Willingham, Ray H. (Rita) Duncan and Rebecca Shanks and Grandchildren John (Kathy) Willingham, III, Hollie Willingham, Griffin Willingham, Amalie Shanks, Abigail (Brad) Carter, Andrew Shanks, Alan Norman, Douglas (Jessy) Shanks, Hannah (Brent) Siefken and Haley (Sean) McInturff and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Rose Funeral and Cremation – Mann on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with a funeral immediately following. Burial will be following the service at Edgewood Cemetery. Special thanks to Chyanne Brock, Rebbecca Chevalier, Lindy Thurman, and Nancy Gilbert from First Light Homecare and UT Hospice especially Jasmine Abernathy and Christian Cooley.
