Chelmer Duncan, 91, of Gainesville, Texas passed away September 12, 2025 at Medical City Denton of Denton, Texas surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 5, 1934 in Hiwasse, Arkansas to Elmer and Winnie (Smith) Duncan.
Chelmer graduated from Gravette High School in 1951. He married Mary Sowder on December 12, 2008 in Gainesville, Texas. Chelmer retired from American Airlines and attended Church at Temple Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas. Chelmer is very loved and will be dearly missed by all knew him.
Chelmer is survived by his wife Mary Duncan of Gainesville, son Charles Lee Duncan of Sherman, Randall E. Duncan and wife Patricia of Sadler, three grandsons and one granddaughter, four great grandkids, step daughters; Debi Woolf and husband Larry of Gainesville, Ellen Cunningham and husband Roy of Gainesville, brother in law Roy Duff and wife Paula of Pottsboro and numerous nieces and nephews all over Grayson County and Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Winnie Duncan, three sisters, one brother, grandson Brett Allen Duncan and his first wife Judy Mae Duff Duncan.
The family will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church of Gainesville on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Eddie Chennault, officiating. Interment will be at Tioga Cemetery.
