On Friday, January 13, 2023, Randall "Randy" Lynn Fowler, a beloved husband, father, Pop-Pop, and friend of many passed away. He was seventy-one. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Barnell Fowler. He is survived by his wife, Sara "Sallie", his two children, Tim (Ginger) and Beth (Joe), his siblings, Pete (Shelby), Larry (Rebecca), Sam (Lisa), Kerry "Bubba" (Brenda), Alisa "Sissy" (Joe) Higdon, Richard, and his grandchildren Garrett and Dahlia Ruble.
Randy graduated from Antioch High School in 1969. He married his beautiful bride Sara Taylor on February 20, 1971 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Nashville. He joined the United States Army later that year, became a parachute rigger, and completed his military career as a Master Sergeant. Soon after he joined the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, first as a patrol officer, then as a detective, and ultimately retiring as a Student Resource Officer at Dupont Hadley Middle School.
Randy and Sara welcomed their two precious children; Tim in 1979, and Beth in 1982. This would complete the Fowler family of four. Randy was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, Garrett "Buster Lynn" and Dahlia, both of whom he regularly doted on.
Lovingly referred to as Pop-Pop, Randy listened to every story Dahlia had to tell, and every random fact Garrett imparted to him. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love of fishing, boats, and firearms with Garrett and cherished Dahlia's artwork and inquisitive mind.
The highlight of Randy's time as a police officer was mentoring a student who he met while working as a School Resource Officer, helping her to find her calling in the United States Navy, and proudly telling everyone that his greatest career achievement was watching a struggling student become Petty Officer Second Class Kindra Stiles. Randy had a servant's heart and was a friend to anyone he met. He was driven to help his family, friends, and community, never asking for or wanting anything in return.
There will be a memorial visitation followed by a mass at Holy Name Catholic Church (521 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN 37206) on Friday, January 20, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:30am and will continue until the 11:00am mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Fraternal Order of Police Andrew Jackson Police Youth Camp (https://givingmatters.civicore.com/fundraise/19937/randyfowler?) or Holy Name Catholic Church in his name.

To Randy's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Randy when he was the SRO at Antioch Middle School. I was the school secretary and when the students were in their classes and all was quiet, Randy and I would spend time talking. He was a good friend. Also, my mother knew him from when she worked at the PD. She thought very highly of him also.
