Randall E. Dust passed away on July 11, 2024 in Sandwich Illinois after a long ilness. Randy was born on February 2, 1955 at Roseland Community Hospital to Mary Dean (Brown) Dust and Walter John Dust. He attended Leo High School and graduated from Fenger High School in 1973. Randy had a long career in servicing maintaining and installing office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers and FAX machines and most recently the installation of cash register systems at major retailers such as Starbucks and Meier’s.
Randy had a huge number of interests and hobbies and he was a White Sox and Blackhawks fan.Randy had a deep appreciation of the music of the 60’s and 70’s and Action Movies on the Big Screen; his many hobbies and activities over the years included Pheasant hunting, scuba diving, model rocket building and launching, hiking through caves and visiting State parks such as Starved Rock, Turkey Run, Indiana Dunes and Michigan State Parks where he also camped. He visited several National Parks including Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns and Mt Rushmore. He had a special interest in caves such as Mammoth Cave, Merrimac Caverns, Kartchner Caverns and Onondaga Cave. In fact, Randy took off by himself to explore Luray Caverns at the age of 2 and a half! Two of his brothers, Wayne and David, and his nephew Eric, participated at his rocket launches by helping him chase down his rockets.
He also attended numerous airshows, and on his 40th birthday was gifted a flight in a WWII Trainer aircraft. He also had an interest in submarines and built several model submarines and toured WWII submarines when available. Also, he absolutely loved celebrating Christmas and the Fourth of July.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Dust and Mary Dean Dust and all aunts and uncles and grandparents.
He is survived by his older brothers Gregory, Wayne and Terry his younger brother David , four nephews- Danny, Darren, David and Eric and four first cousins.
Special thanks to Lori for caring for him during his last several months and Divine Hospice for special care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be forwarded to the family.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. Arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home. Online Condolences may be made at www.beveragefamilyfh.com
