Randall R. Mellenthin, better known by family and friends as "Randy", Age 66, of Unity, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Randy will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Randy's niece, Pastor Mikayla Kopp officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 PM until time of services.
Randall was born on December 2, 1957, in Marshfield, the son of the late Wilbur L "Pete" and VirJean "Jean" (Weis) Mellenthin. He was a graduate of Spencer High School, Class of 1976. After high school he was employed at Rolo Home as an electrician until the plant closed then went to work at Land O Lakes in Spencer where he worked at various jobs for 42 years. On June 19, 1982, he was united in marriage to Melody Kettleborough at St. John's Lutheran Church in the Town of Brighton.
He was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Randy enjoyed being outdoors, camping, bowhunting for whitetails and bowfishing for bullheads or carp. He was an expert in small engine mechanics and repair and able to fix anything electrical. Randy, his dad, and his best friend, Moe spent many hours working tirelessly gutting and remodeling his home. He was very proud of their work on his home.
Randy was a quiet man with a gentle heart who loved nature and enjoyed time outdoors taking in God's creations. He would do anything for anyone who needed help.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melody Mellenthin; his son, Lucas (Liz) Mellenthin of Chicago, Illinois; his daughter, Allison Mellenthin of Unity; his grandchildren, Gage Segalle-Mellenthin, Hoyt Mellenthin and Parker Mellenthin; his sisters, Gwen (Wayne Hempel) Thomas of Marshfield, Janine (Bruce) Luepke of Spencer, Janell (Dennis) Kopp of Loyal and Geana (Kevin) Connelly of Chicago, Illinois and his brother-in-law, Keith (Lisa) Kettleborough of Spencer. Randy is further survived by his faithful canine companions, Gunner and Paisley along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jean Mellenthin; his mother-in-law, Corrine Kettleborough; his father-in-law, Frank Kettleborough; his second father-in-law, Jerry Normington; his brother-in-law, Denny Thomas and a nephew, Jacob Kopp.
