Randall Keith Stoops, 82 of Cookeville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Randall was born on Monday, December 7, 1942, in Willow Grove, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Arnold Stoops and the late Lora Ethel (Waddell) Stoops.
Randall was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Pa, and friend. He graduated from Livingston Academy in 1962, was proud to be a Hogeye, and is part of the 1,000 Point Club in basketball. He coached various softball teams and was best known for his coaching of the traveling women's softball team "The Getz". He worked for Tennessee Tech for 33 years as the Rec Center Supervisor. He was a proud supporter of Tennessee Tech Athletics for 50-plus years, even traveling with the team to many of their away games. He enjoyed writing his daily blog, "Stoopsville - This - That- Whatever," on Facebook, which he started during his time at the Rec Center. He enjoyed watching the Dodgers on TV. Randall enjoyed being with his family, especially with his grandchildren, and he supported them in everything they did. He was a devoted Christian and a member of First Christian Church for many years. He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Randall is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane (Moody) Stoops; Daughter, Tera Stoops Brooks and her husband, Sam; Step Son, Ricky Lynn and his wife, Rhonda; Step Son-in-law, Richard Scott; 5 Grandchildren, Samuel Scott, Will Brooks, Halle Brooks, Rachael Lynn, and Rylee Lynn.
In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by, Sister, Helen Stoops Cross, and her husband, Tim; Step Daughter, Patty Lynn Scott.
Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 4:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Windlan officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
