Randy C. Blocker 66 Years Young
July 20, 1958 - March 6, 2025
Heaven just got a little rowdier. On March 6, 2025, Randy C. Blocker decided his work here was done and went to be with his beautiful wife, Carla, surrounded by a room full of loved ones, while holding the hands of his two favorite granddaughters. We can only assume he strutted through those pearly gates in a cut-off sleeve shirt, with a firework in one hand and a fishing pole in the other, ready to tell a joke that was probably a little inappropriate for the occasion.
Born on July 20, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas, Randy spent his life making sure those around him felt loved- whether through a warm hug, a kind word, a well-timed insult, or yelling at you to "Hold the damn flashlight straight!" He was a man of many names: Dad, Pa, Padre, Dandy, Chief Long Beard-but no matter what you called him, you knew you had a friend for life.
Randy had a passion for many things-fishing, hunting, OU football, Old Westerns, and of course, fireworks. If it exploded or required a Band-Aid afterward, he was all in. Speaking of injuries, Randy is now joyfully reunited with the big toe he lost two years ago. He is absolutely tickled to death about that.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Blocker; his parents, C.D. and Wanda Blocker; his sister, Melody Klepfer; and his lifelong buddies, Ryan Hook and John Jones. No doubt, they have all already gotten into some trouble up there.
Randy leaves behind a family who adored him, including his children, Cody Blocker and Ashley Blocker (Sheldon Waddell); his granddaughters - whom he absolutely worshiped, Addie Blocker (his "Addie Girl") and Swayzie Blocker (his "Nitro Baby"); his sisters, Kim Ball and husband Larry and Rickie Lea; brother-in-laws Billy Ray Yates and Chris Yates; and several nieces and nephews who knew that if Uncle Randy was around, there was always fun (or trouble) to be had. He also leaves behind his honorary brother and sister, Larry and Greta Smith, and of course, his faithful companion, Gus-Gus.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Deaconess Gateway for their compassionate care and support during Randy's time there. A special thank you to the nursing staff on the heart unit and the critical care team for their exceptional care and attention. Their care made a significant difference in his life and provided comfort to our family.
While we are heartbroken to lose him, we take comfort in knowing he is now with Carla, probably bickering at each other. Randy lived life with laughter, love, and a little bit of chaos, and he would want us all to do the same.
In true Randy fashion, we'll leave you with this: Light'em and run, laugh whenever possible, and for the love of all things holy, hold the flashlight straight.
A Celebration of Randy's life will be held on April 3rd, 2025, at the Denning Family Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to Heart Failure Research Foundation. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
