Randy W. Deneau 66 of Crawfordsville went to be with his Lord and Savior November 21 surrounded by his loving family at home following a valiant fight against cancer.
He was born July 28, 1958, to Wayne and Janet (Goebel) in Oak Park IL. Randy married the love of his life Lisa Cloncs on September 4, 1982, at Mace Methodist Church.
Randy was taken in by his Aunt and Uncle Larry and Joyce Goebel (Romanek) in 1972 and lived with them until he graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1976 and attended University of IL for one year before transferring to School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO gaining a degree in Criminal Justice. Randy joined the United States Air Force in 1984 serving four years in the Military Police as a Traffic Investigator with the rank of SGT. Upon his discharge he joined the California Department of Corrections as a correctional officer for 22 years at Pelican Bay State Prison residing in Brookings Oregon. After his retirement the family returned to Crawfordsville in 2010. Retirement did not last long when he returned to corrections as a Jail Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and promoted to Assistant Jail Commander for seven years.
Randy was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and he served previously on the Church Council and was a faithful Usher. He has served as a CASA and a Mentor with Youth Service Bureau. Randy and Lisa were a host family of 4 International Wabash Students, Tim, Leo, Jerry, and Tung. Randy was a former president of Brookings Harbor Little League and a member of California Correctional Peace Officers Association. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball fan, enjoyed cheering his grandson on at his sporting events and following his son and daughter in law as they competed in fishing tournaments. His love for his family was obvious to everyone that he came in contact with.
Randy is survived by his loving wife Lisa of 42 years. His two children; Alex (Missy) Deneau, Hannah (Luis) Berber, grandchildren Justyce Amble & Diego Berber
Sisters, Denise in Santa Rosa, CA, Lorraine in New Iberea LA, Ann (Chester) Chafin in Talbot TN, Heidi Goebel in Salt Lake City UT. Brothers; Robert (Olesya) Deneau in Mountain City TN, Mike (Anna) Goebel, in Salt Lake City UT, Mother-in-law Betty Cloncs, adopted son Vince Wingate and adopted grandchild Zachary Wingate, Second moms; Joyce Romanek, Jean Goebel and famiy and his best friend, his dog Bailey Jo. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and extended family. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, second father Larry Goebel, brother Curtis Deneau.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Marie Canine Cancer Center and the care team from Franciscan Hospice for the wonderful compassionate care given to Randy.
Calling hours will be held 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church until the time of service at 12:00 PM with Pastor Matt Masko officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.
