Funeral services for Randy L. Hitsman, age 59, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 2:00PM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg with Rev. Ray Selden officiating. Calling hours will be held prior from 12:00PM up until the time of the service. Burial will take place following the service at the Purmort Cemetery in DePeyster, NY. Mr. Hitsman passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with his wife by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hitsman; his children, Hillary Hitsman and her companion Tyler Richardson, of St. Regis Falls and Travis Hitsman, of Ogdensburg; his siblings, Linda Pike-Hankins, Albert "Gus" Mattice and his companion Linda, Barbara Roscoe and her husband Jerry, Brenda Mattice Thurman and her husband Dan, and Scott Hitsman and his companion Nancy Mandigo; and a sister-in-law, Melanie Mattice; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers, Doug Mattice and Robert Mattice; and a sister-in-law, Liz Mattice.

Randy was born on August 21, 1966, in Gouverneur, NY, the son of the late Ralph Hitsman and Violet Mattice. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1987. He married Bonnie Foster on May 18, 1991 at the Ogdensburg United Methodist Church. He first went to work for Thurman & Sons Lumber Mill for 15 years before going to work for the Town of Oswegatchie Highway Department for another 15 years. He also recently worked for Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in environmental services for the last 5 years.

He found joy in riding his motorcycle, spending time hunting and fishing, and chatting on his CB radio. Many of his happiest hours were spent in the garage tinkering on projects, listening to music, and watching his favorite show, Old Man's Garage, and spending time with his family and friends.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department, 95 N State St, Heuvelton, NY 13654 & Jerry's Run for Cancer, 3788 County Rt 6, Hammond, NY 13646.
