Randy Luke Obituary

Randy H. Luke

1948~2026

Sandy, UT-Our sweet Randy completed his long journey with Alzheimer's early on the morning of January 4, 2026. He faced many challenges with a brave strong heart for ten years. It was not easy. It was not fun. It was not peaceful. He did it, he endured to the end and finished the fight.

Randy H. Luke was born on August 26, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Luke's Hospital to Henry and Joy Luke. He spent his early years there and then his family moved to Utah and settled in Sugarhouse. He attended area schools and enjoyed getting into all kinds of mischief. He went to Highland High School and later graduated from the University of Utah in 1970 with a degree in Secondary Education and Physical Education. He taught PE and coached at Butler Junior High for three years. One summer he took a job at FMA Leasing, which he enjoyed so much that he left teaching to pursue a financial career. In 1983, he started his own company, CFC, Inc. - Commercial Funding. This company was his pride and joy for 40 years before he retired.

While he was attending the University of Utah, he met the love of his life, Karen, in a theatre class. They were married on August 28, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. Oh how he loved his sweetheart. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters.

Randy loved playing sports but baseball was his favorite. He played baseball from a young boy, through high school at Highland High where the team took State in 1966 and played in many other leagues. Randy was an avid University of Utah fan. He had season tickets to both basketball and football and even attended many bowl games. In his spare time, you could find him at Willow Creek Country Club golfing, where he made some money, lost some money, made lots of friends, and broke many clubs.

Randy was a proud member of the Utah Air National Guard, where he served for six years from 1969 to 1975. He worked on air refueling planes and traveled to many different places throughout the United States.

We had the best time as a family travelling to his favorite places, which included Hawaii, Jackson Hole, the Tetons, Bear Lake, and St. George. He only needed a good book and a palm tree. The memories created will keep us laughing and will be remembered fondly.

Randy loved his family with all of his heart and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He went to many dance recitals, orchestra recitals, sporting events, choir performances, other school events, and spent countless hours at Primary Children's Hospital. He really wanted to have a baseball team but instead he got the best cheerleaders ever. Even though he never had a son, he did get one grandson who loves baseball as much as he did. He spent hours watching him play ball and loved every minute of it. But most of all, he just loved to make them smile in any way he could. Some of his antics will make us laugh forever.

He could make friends wherever he went and he had the best of friends. They had his back, supported and encouraged him. There are too many to list here but want you to know how special you were to him. Thank you.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel and our Savior. He was a natural born leader and served in many different positions. He served in Bishoprics, as Bishop, in the Stake Presidency, YM Stake President, and Scoutmaster.

Randy is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters, Chelsea, Cami (James) and Chantelle (Ryan). Grandchildren, Kennady (Cayden), Haley, Riley, McKenna, and Brynnlee, and one great grandchild, Juniper. He is also survived by brothers, David (Cheryl), and Terry, sister Stacie (Brent) and sister-in-law Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Joy Luke, and his brother Kevin Luke.

We are grateful beyond words for the caregivers, staff, and residents of Sunrise of Sandy. Even though he teased you often, he loved you so much and so do we. We also want to thank Dr. Willesen, Deborah, and also Lindsay at Atlas Hospice for their wonderful care. Thank you for your love and patience.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the chapel on 2400 E. Alta Canyon Drive, Sandy, Utah. Another viewing will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:45 AM at the same location. The funeral services will follow beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, Utah 84092.

I´ve known Randy since high school. He was my boss at FMA. We spent many hours (and trips) together. I then had the privilege of participating with Randy on a few transactions at Commercial Funding. Randy was fun and down to earth. He called it as he saw it - which I liked. He had a strong testimony and eternal love for Karen, his kids and grandkids. My sincere condolences to all.

May Randy's memory be eternal. I worked with Randy through Commercial Funding and he was such a wonderful and fun person to work with. We had multiple friends in common and it was always fun to talk too and about Randy. My condolences to the Luke family.
